The path to certification

Obtained the label means complying with the applicable technical specifications:

  1. to inform clients about the production process;
  2. to execute quality control and testing methods;
  3. to constantly monitor the coating process;
  4. to introduce standard inspection forms in all participating countries.

Application

The scope of Qualisteelcoat includes bare steel, hot-dip galvanised steel, and metallised steel that has undergone chemical and/or mechanical pretreatment and is finally covered with a currentless primer, e-coat, powder coating, or liquid coating.

Inspection

The coater undergoes an annual audit by an independent laboratory approved by Qualisteelcoat to perform all necessary tests and production controls. The laboratory is accredited according to the general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories set out in ISO/IEC 17025.

Assessment

The entire production process, as well as the quality control of the lacquered product, is evaluated. Strict mandatory quality tests are carried out on test panels both on site and in the accredited laboratory.

Certification

The paint shop only receives the Qualisteelcoat quality label after a successful audit of its controlled coating system. The certificate is valid for one year and applies to corrosivity classes with an expected lifetime high (15–25 years).

Frequently asked questions

How does an architect choose the right coating system?

For an architect or specifier, choosing the right coating system should start with the right questions about environment and required durability, not with the colour or finish.

The architect or specifier should consider the base material, corrosivity environment, required durability, pretreatment, coating system, UV exposure and desired finish.
By defining these requirements at the specification stage and selecting a Qualisteelcoat-approved system applied by a certified coater, the required level of protection and quality can be secured.

What is the expected lifetime of a steel structure protected according to QUALISTEELCOAT?

QUALISTEELCOAT coating systems are designed for High (H) durability, corresponding to an expected lifetime of 15 to 25 years before the first major maintenance of the coating system is required.
The appropriate system is selected according to the corrosivity class of the environment, from C1 to C5. With the correct coating system, proper application and appropriate maintenance, the steel structure itself can remain protected for a considerably longer period.

The durability period should not be confused with a warranty period. Any warranty is determined separately by contractual agreements and applicable legal provisions.

Convinced?

If you aim to stand out from other paint shops through exceptional quality and reliability, and you're seeking new, challenging coating projects with your clients, then you've come to the right place.
